Not everyone has a church background and the first visit to any church can be an intimidating experience - b
ut it should not be! Here at Messiah we strive to be "visitor friendly." By saying that, we know that people who visit our church may not be familiar with the traditions of our church, the lingo we use and the history of our congregation. We intentionally try to "break down" the barriers that may exist between you and your experience of God among the people of Messiah.
We understand that there are some misgivings about visiting a church. "What will they expect of me?" "Will I have to stand up and introduce myself?" Will they come to my home and try to get me to come back?" are just a few of the questions that linger in the minds of those considering a visit to a church.
At Messiah, we believe that it is our responsibility to "clear the way" for you, so that your experience here will be a positive and uplifting one. We want God to ignite in you a passion for exploring your relationship with God and we do not want to do anything that might stand in the way of that experience.
What can you expect when you come to Messiah?
• You will be welcomed as one of God's Children.
• You will experience great music.
• You will hear a message that can be applied to your life.
• Your children will be welcomed to worship with you.
• You will not be asked for your money.
• You will not be asked to introduce yourself.
• You will be offered coffee, juice and goodies after the service!
Maybe you are contemplating coming to church for the very first time, maybe it has been a long time since you have been to a church. Whatever the case, we want you to know that Messiah has you in mind - in fact we have already been praying for you!
We know that there is a lot of stuff to think about as you consider coming to church and we hope that getting some of this "stuff" out of the way has been a help to you as you ponder visiting us. Whether you visit Messiah or another congregation, we encourage you to dig deeper and explore the feeling inside that is calling you to come to meet God among the people of God.
"Messiah is a big warm family, everyone was way more friendly than I thought they would be..."
Here at Messiah we make sure that the first face that you see has a smile on it. Whether you looking for the bathroom or for a place to change a diaper, one of our greeters will be nearby to help you in whatever way that we can.
"The Message was just what I needed - given the week that I was facing at work."
You will enjoy upbeat music and practical messages that will help you with the realities of life in the 21st century. We will even give you an outline of the sermon so that you can take some notes and talk about the message during the week. Whether you join us for one service or for many, we want to help you connect with the personal hope and the practical help that God gives us.
"I can wear what's comfortable!"
We are much more concerned about meeting the real life needs of those who come through our doors that we are with what you wear to church. Jesus accepted people as they are and, here at Messiah, we do too! So, dress casually and comfortably. After all, we have a pastor who wears tennis shoes all the time and is frequently covered in dog hair!
"They asked me NOT to give an offering!"
All of the ministries at Messiah are funded by the gracious and sacrificial offerings of the membership who call Messiah their home. The offering is for those who have bound themselves to the Messiah community. As our guest, instead of wanting you to give something, we want you to get something. As our guest, your presence among us has already serves as your gift to this community and we will ask for nothing more.. Come, relax and experience the joy of encountering God. If, in the future would like to take the next step in deepening your relationship with God though the church, talk with our pastor and he will be happy to speak with you.
